  18. MENLO PARK, CA   February 22, 1991 — Opcode Systems, Inc. has released The MIDI
  19. Translator, a high-quality, low-cost MIDI interface with one MIDI in and three
  20. MIDI outs.

  22. MIDI is the standard communication protocol between synthesizers,  computers,
  23. and a variety of other electronic instruments and processors, adopted in 1984
  24. by a coalition of manufacturers.   At the suggested retail price of $59.00, The
  25. MIDI Translator provides a low-cost MIDI interface to beginning MIDI users and
  26. multimedia producers.

  28. The MIDI Translator provides the means to let MIDI instruments and the
  29. Macintosh “talk” to each other. The user simply connects the interface to
  30. either the printer or modem port on the Macintosh and then connects one or more
  31. MIDI instruments to the interface.  One can then use software to perform a huge
  32. variety of tasks with MIDI such as creating, recording, and editing music with
  33. a sequencer, editing and storing synthesizer sounds, or adding MIDI music to
  34. multimedia presentations or educational software, among many others.

  36. The MIDI Translator requires no power supply and is therefore extremely simple
  37. to set up.  The MIDI Translator’s simplicity, self-contained and sturdy design,
  38. and low cost  make it the ideal entry-level MIDI interface.
